The above arrangement had been a recent change - previously the direction of the stairs had been fore to aft with access only from inside the lounge and reaching the promenade deck through a narrow door onto the open space behind the forward deck shelter. In the views above the stairways took away part of the observation lounge space above and sliding doors were fitted for access to the open deck above by turning left or right as appropriate at the top of the stairway (see below, left)

The broad central companionway leading from the vestibule at the purser's office to the entrance to the cafeteria has remained unchanged. The souvenir shop is to the left and the entrance to the lower bar on the right.

On the facing panel to the right, Waverley's passenger cerificates are displayed



 

 

 

Between the two companionways, doors concealed stairs to crew quarters on the lower deck

 

 

In 2004, after the Completion Phase of the Rebuild

 

 

 

 

A broad central companionway replaced the two narrower sets of steps
