Engines overheated on the morning of 16/5/05 causing smoke damage to the motor and the boat itself. 250 passengers successfully evacuated by the keelboats.
At the time, "Mark Twain" was under refurbishment so it was not until September that she could be moved to the dry dock for attention.
Work only began in September 2006 and she is not expected to resume service until the end of April 2007 at the earliest.
