Lake Como, Italy
Navigazione Lago di Como (NLC)
Lake Como was early to experience the benefits of the Paddle Steamer as PS Lario was operated on the lake by the Societa Lombarda from 1826. Several companies were formed to run competing services and from these, the Societa Lariana became the monopoly operator. Lake Como was also early to introduce screw steamers and, in 1916, motor vessels. The two remaining paddlers, of which Concordia is still in commission, were built as late as 1926, the same year in which the paddler Milano was converted to diesel screw machinery.

Concordia currently operates a summer return service from Como to Colico on Sundays (unless on private charter) and in the peak season, a similar full length lake return run on Thursdays.
