British paddle tug / tender, one of only two remaining and the last still in the UK

Left : At Chatham in 1988

Built : 1931 by Bow, McLachlan & Co at Paisley, Scotland
Two compound diagonal engines, with separate engines for each wheel
110 ft x 22.6 ft

Used as a tug / tender on the River Tees until 1967
Moved to the Medway in 1975 and moored outside the Chatham Naval Dockyard
In private ownership until 2001 until transferred to the Medway Maritime Trust
National Heritage Lottery funding secured to pay for the development of a conservation plan as a first step towards preservation
The Trust now also own a pontoon onto which the vessel was hoisted at the end of March 2008 and she will then be based at Chatham docks
A plan is now being worked on for the salvation and renovation of the vessel (at an estimated cost of GBP 4 m) and plans for a self-sustaining future.
